Dona Ana County, NM Deputies Gain Huge Contract

February 27, 2006

In a major development under the reinstated New Mexico public employee collective bargaining law, Dona Ana County deputies achieved a major new agreement with the County that includes a first time pay step system that brought equity to the pay plan, and gave many deputies and sergeants increases of between 15%-20%. “This is a major development for Dona Ana County deputies,” said NCPSO/CWA President Chris McGill, who negotiated the contract on behalf of Local 7911. “I predict that these deputies will be among the best paid County law enforcement officers in New Mexico within a few short years.”
