End of Watch

Family, friends and co-workers are mourning the death of Detective Mario Moreno of the San Antonio Police Department. On September 21, 2007, Detective Moreno died in the line of duty while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a suspect who had shot his girlfriend the previous day. The Detective, along with other officers assigned to the repeat Offender Program, went to an apartment complex where the suspect was hiding. When the suspect came out of the apartment, he spotted the officers and fled on foot. Detective Moreno pursued the suspect and was shot during the chase. The suspect was killed by other officers involved in the pursuit. Detective Moreno was transported to a hospital where he died from his wounds. Detective Moreno was a member of the San Antonio Police Officers Association, Local 6913 of the NCPSO/CWA. Detective Moreno leaves behind a wife and two young children.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Memorial Fund in Mario's name, to account #745320, at the City Employees Federal Credit Union, 123 N. Medina, San Antonio, TX 78207.

Family and friends are mourning Rio Rancho NM police officer Germaine Casey who was killed in the line of duty on Monday, August 27, 2007. Officer Casey was a dedicated family man and leaves behind a wife, and two children. Officer Casey was a member of the Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety Association and CWA Local 7911.
Officer Germaine Casey was one of the lead motorcycles providing escort for President George W. Bush when his motorcycle left the road and struck a tree. Officer Casey succumbed to his injuries sustained in the accident, which occurred as the motorcade returned to Kirtland AFB.
The Local’s membership has made donations for the Casey family. We would respectfully request that your Local support the family with a monetary contribution. Family and friends are mourning Corporal Marlo Gonzales, a 13-year veteran of the WV State Police, a member of the WV Troopers Association and the Communications Workers of America. Corporal Gonzales’ end of watch was July 18, 2007; he leaves behind a wife and three sons.
The WV Troopers Association continues to raise monies the help support the Gonzales family and respectfully request support with a monetary contribution.
