To benefit its members seeking convenient access to fully accredited on-line Bachelors and Masters Degrees, NCPSO/CWO associated with Mountain State University, a private university fully certificated by the Higher Learning Council of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Through this relationship, members can earn on-line Bachelors Degrees in Organizational Leadership and Master's Degrees in Strategic Leadership.
As part of the agreement between NCPSO and Mountain State University, the university agreed to, at no-cost, evaluate all members' prior training. As a result, the Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership permits members to integrate prior learning (as well as military and previously-earned college credits) into the degree program.
NCPSO/CWA members whose backgrounds go beyond the above also have the opportunity to petition the university for academic credits through Mountain State University's Prior Learning Assessment process. PLA allows students to receive college credits for knowledge, skills, and capabilities gained through work, training, and other life experiences. Qualified students may apply for credit in one or more courses after developing a portfolio that describes and documents prior learning. Students may then receive credit for a particular course after demonstrating a level or knowledge and learning equivalent to that of traditional students. There is a fee for prior learning assessment. All-in-all, a total of up to 64 academic credits can be applied to the Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership.
The Bachelor Degree's major is completed totally on-line in four fifteen week academic semesters. Different from traditional degree programs, students stay in the same group throughout the major and remain with the same instructor.
The Masters Degree in Strategic Leadership follows a similar format. Requiring neither the Graduate Record Examination for Admissions nor a Thesis for graduation, students enroll in 3 twenty-week academic semesters. As with the Bachelors Degree, students work together in the same group and with the same faculty throughout the entire degree program.
